E.D.U.C.A.T.E. yOuRseLf

Nowadays, we lose sight of the true meaning of education and why we should study. Then, I made my reasons for studying more memorable by using the acronym EDUCATE which I will elaborate here.

E- The first ‘E’ stands for ‘Excellence’: we all want excellence in everything. However, doing excellently in our school work is definitely not possible without studying. Studying is a key ingredient to achieving this excellence.

D- Besides, studying requires ‘Discipline’ on our part. With many subjects to cover, a timetable is essential. This discipline helps us when we start working especially when a deadline has to be met, a project to be organized or a budget to be adhered to.

U- With this attitude, we students should realize that we need to develop a deeper ‘Understanding’ of the world around us and that studying must go beyond passively learning facts. As we think more about what we learn, we become more aware of our natural world, and understand how and why political differences exist. As we mature in our study habits, we might even see how the past affects the present.

C- Naturally, studying is necessary for our future ‘Career’. If we are successful in our studies, we are eligible for more challenging jobs.

A- In keeping with this, we can ensure ourselves excellent ‘Academic’ results through regular study. Our ambitions of being high-fliers in our working life can be fulfilled if we are well-qualified, as it is obvious that very few companies will employ a poorly-educated person.

T- Disciplined study is actually ‘Training’ the mind to think, analyze and make valid conclusions. All this is another aspect of being independent and growing up, which is necessary to cope with challenges of working life.

E- The final letter of this acronym stands for ‘Enthusiasm’. We will remember more when we are passionate about the subject matter. As such, enthusiasm is an important ingredient in true education.

“ EDUCATION IS NOT A DESTINATION
BUT A LIFE-LONG JOURNEY”
