The most momentous day in my life happened in today when I rekindled my friendship with my best friend from my teenage years. We had drifted apart after Standard Six when we went to different secondary school. I was so overwhelmed with my newly-found freedom then I couldn’t find any time to keep in touch with her, much less with anyone else.

It was only when I was cleaning out my room one day when I found old photograph of Siew Ling and myself. Then memories of all good times we had shared started flooding back. She had been the one who consoled me when I faced difficulties. I knew then that I have to contact her.

Feeling a bit jittery, I dialed her house phone number. After a few rings, I heard a voice saying hello. I knew it was Siew Ling. She sounded more mature, of course, but I could never the voice. We agreed to meet at the Café at 7:30 p.m. that night.

Soon I found myself sitting opposite her, drinking coffee. The first ten minutes were strained but before we knew it, we were busy chatting. It was just talk about our studies, our friends and so on, but we were connecting as if the past six years of non-contact had never happened.

It was as if a magic wand had touched the dusty relationship and made it fresh and shiny again. Renewing a friendship can be an intricate process especially when both of us had neglected to keep in touch with each other but somehow we regained it in those three hours. We shared our ups and downs, jokes about the good old times, and wondered how we could have let ourselves drift apart.

Talking with her was very comforting and it suddenly dawned on me why I had been so close with her. Now, more than ever, I realized that she was a great listener, letting me be myself without judging me.

Being with Siew Ling was very different from going out with the casual friend I have now. The evening ended on a light note. We both agreed to keep in contact more often. That evening was very meaningful and I went to bed feeling like the luckiest person on earth.

I had learnt that one should not take friends for granted but what made the day extra special was the day extra special was that we found each other again.

When I’m free, I like to bake some cookies for my family and friends to eat. So, if you are fond of eating junk food, at here, I will show you a series of steps on how to bake a nutritious snack which is both easy to bake and fun to eat.

INGREDIENTS:
50 grams of butter
50 grams of chopped cashew nuts
100 grams of rolled oats
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
4 teaspoons of brown sugar

Before you start mixing the ingredients, you must heat the oven until it reaches 230˚C. Also, grease the baking tray ready for your TASTY mixture.

Now, melt 50 grams of butter, four tablespoons of brown sugar and two tablespoons of honey in the saucepan over a low heat. To make sure the sugar is thoroughly dissolved and that nothing is burned, stir with the ladle all the time. Then, add 100 grams of oats and 50 grams of chopped cashew nuts into the liquid and mix it up quickly.

The next step is to pour this thick mixture into your prepared baking tray. Bake it on the top shelf of the oven until it looks well-browned. This should only take about ten to fifteen minutes; otherwise your TASTY will be burnt.

Now, take out the TASTY treat and leave to cool. When it is sufficiently cool, you can crumble the mixture into small pieces with your hands and store it in an airtight tin.

Nothing beats eating your own snacks, and I must say that this TASTY is much more delicious than the potato chips you have been snacking on. You can serve the TASTY as a nutritious snack straight from the tin, or as cereals in a bowl of cold milk. Believe me, it’s really yummy!!!!

Nowadays, we lose sight of the true meaning of education and why we should study. Then, I made my reasons for studying more memorable by using the acronym EDUCATE which I will elaborate here.

E- The first ‘E’ stands for ‘Excellence’: we all want excellence in everything. However, doing excellently in our school work is definitely not possible without studying. Studying is a key ingredient to achieving this excellence.

D- Besides, studying requires ‘Discipline’ on our part. With many subjects to cover, a timetable is essential. This discipline helps us when we start working especially when a deadline has to be met, a project to be organized or a budget to be adhered to.

U- With this attitude, we students should realize that we need to develop a deeper ‘Understanding’ of the world around us and that studying must go beyond passively learning facts. As we think more about what we learn, we become more aware of our natural world, and understand how and why political differences exist. As we mature in our study habits, we might even see how the past affects the present.

C- Naturally, studying is necessary for our future ‘Career’. If we are successful in our studies, we are eligible for more challenging jobs.

A- In keeping with this, we can ensure ourselves excellent ‘Academic’ results through regular study. Our ambitions of being high-fliers in our working life can be fulfilled if we are well-qualified, as it is obvious that very few companies will employ a poorly-educated person.

T- Disciplined study is actually ‘Training’ the mind to think, analyze and make valid conclusions. All this is another aspect of being independent and growing up, which is necessary to cope with challenges of working life.

E- The final letter of this acronym stands for ‘Enthusiasm’. We will remember more when we are passionate about the subject matter. As such, enthusiasm is an important ingredient in true education.

dAncE LIFE

dAncE.... I never think that I like dancing. This change after I participated in co-curriculum- contemporary dance.Actually, dancing is very interesting. Through dancing, I'm not only can learn how to dance, but also know many friends in the college. All of my friends are very friendly and helpful. When I encountered any problems in my process of learning, my group members, especially my partner are willing to lend me a helping hand. Before the competition,we were asked to create a series of dance steps- HIP HOP. We've tried very hard to learn it.So, during the competition, I try my best to dance in order to win in the competition. Although I don't get any prizes in this competition, I'm still very happy and feel proud of myself. What I've learnt from this competition is "The outcome is not important but the PROCESS".
